Uses:

Eurax is used to treat scabies and certain conditions and itching associated with specific conditions. 

Dosage:

Eurax comes in the form of a lotion and should be shaken well before use. A thin layer of the cream or lotion should be applied to all body parts starting at the neck and working down to the soles of the feet. The cream does not need to be applied to the head as scabies does not typically infect the head. The medication should be placed on dry skin and then rubbed in well. Eurax can them be left on for 24 hours at which time a second dose should be applied without washing the previous dose off. The drug should be thoroughly washed off after 48 hours and the last application of the drug. 

Cautionary Measures: 

The lotion should not be taken by mouth. Patients should avoid applying medication to mouth, nose, and or eyes. Individuals that are in close contact or are sexual partners of patients should also be treated. Since scabies is highly contagious, all clothing, bed linens, hair brushes, combs, and hats should be disinfected with a strong cleanser and hot water to remove mites and or eggs.

Skipped Doses:

Patiens are suggested to take two doses of Eurax 24 hours apart. Unfortunately, if the second dose is missed, the patient may have to start over. 

Potential Side Effects:

Serious side effects are not common with Eurax. However, if any allergic reaction such as closing of the throat, swelling of the lips, face, tongue, hives, or shortness of breath patients should stop use and obtain medical help.

How to Store:

Eurax should be stored at room temperature and away from any heat or moisture. 

Overdose:

Symptoms of an overdose may including a burning feeling in themouth, inflammation or irritiation of the mouth, throat, or stomach lining. Additional symptoms include nausea, abdominal pain, and vomiting. Patients should immediately obtain medical help.
