Zyloprim Uses

Used often to treat gout, Zyloprim works to reduce the amount of uric acid that is produced within your body. In addition to treating gout, Zyloprim is also used to help lower uric acid during cancer treatment and treat uric acid-related kidney stones

How Zyloprim is Taken

Coming in tablet form, Zyloprim is most often taken orally once a day. It is preferable that Zyloprim is taken after eating and should be taken in conjunction with drinking eight glasses of water or liquid each day while on the medication. Those taking Zyloprim should avoid large amounts of vitamin C supplements and fruit juices while on being treated with this drug. Large amounts of vitamin C can work with Zylopraim to increase your risk of developing kidney stones.

Zyloprim Warnings

Talk to your doctor before taking Zyloprim if you have kidney or liver disease. If you suffer from these conditions, it maybe necessary for you to take a lower dose or be subjected to special monitoring while on the drug. An FDA pregnancy category C drug, it is not yet known if Zyloprim has the ability to affect unborn babies. If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, tell your doctor before you begin Zyloprim treatments.

Missed Zyloprim Dose

If you miss a dose of Zyloprim, take it as soon as you remember or have the opportunity to do so. If it is almost time for your next dose before you remember, skip the missed dose and go forward with your regular dosing schedule. Zyloprim should not be taken double dose.

Side Effects of Zyloprim

Some slight side effects such as headache, dizziness, upset stomach, diarrhea, and drowsiness may occur when you are taking Zyloprim. If you suffer from these effects, talk to your doctor but do not stop taking Zyloprim unless instructed to do so by a medical professional. Other unpleasant, unusual, or extremely bothersome reactions should also be reported or discussed. Serious side effects include an allergic reaction (which includes problems breathing, swelling of the lips and face, or hives), blood in urine, painful sensations when urinating, fever, chills, irritation to the eye, rash, join aches, severe nausea, and severe vomiting. If you believe you are suffering from serious side effects, you should stop taking Zyloprim immediately and seek emergency medical assistance right away.

How to Store Zyloprim

Zyloprim should be stored at 15-25 degrees C (or 59-77 F). It should be kept in a dry place, out of the reach of children, and protected from light.

Zyloprim Overdose

As of now, there are no known symptoms of a Zyloprim overdose. If you believe that you are suffering from a Zyloprim overdose or if you have taken more than your recommended dose, seek medical attention immediately.
