Drug Uses
Ranitidine HCL inhibits the production of stomach acid. It is used for the treatment and prevention of stomach ulcers.
How Taken
The usual dose is either 300 mg one per day or 150 mg twice per day. It is recommended to take Ranitidine HCL in the evening. Pills should be taken with an eight ounce glass of water.
Warnings/Precautions
Ranitidine HCL is found in breast milk. Talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits of taking this medication while nursing a baby. Do not stop taking Ranitidine HCL without talking to your doctor.
Missed Dose
Take a missed dose as soon as possible. If it is nearly time for your next scheduled dose, do not take a double dose. Simply skip the missed dose and resume your normal dosing schedule.
Possible Side Effects
Ranitidine HCL can cause side effects such as diarrhea, constipation, vomiting, nausea, abdominal pain or headache.
Storage
This medication should be stored in a dry place in room temperature. Keep away from light and heat. Do not store where children could have access to the medication.
Overdose
An overdose can cause unabsorbed material to collect in the GI tract. This must be removed by a doctor. If you think you or someone else has had an overdose, call your doctor or go to the emergency room.
