Uses of Flexeril:
Flexeril is commonly used as a muscle relaxant and can be used to aid in the treatment of pain for muscle injuries such as sprains, strains, and muscle spasms. Flexeril can also be used to help relieve pain caused by muscle stiffness.
Dosage:
Flexeril is available in tablets of 10mg. For adults, the normal dose is one 10mg tablet three times per day. Daily dosage should not exceed 60mg per day. If symptoms of upset stomach occur, it may help to take Flexeril with food. It's important to take the drug as directed.
Cautionary Measures:
Unfortunately, Flexeril may not be the right drug for everyone. If an individual has suffered from the below conditions eitherin the past or present, a doctor needs to be informed. Although side effects from the drug can be minimilized with a doctor's advice, it's recommended to not take Flexeril if you are vicitim to the following: an overactive thyroid gland, allergies, difficulty urinating, heart disease, or glaucoma. Please inform your doctor if you are breast-feeding or pregnant before taking Flexeril.
Skipping Doses:
If a dose is accidentally skipped, the individual should take it as soon as possible. If it's time for the next dose, it's recommended to not worry about the skipped dose and take the next scheduled dose. It's not okay to take a double dose of Flexeril.
Potential Side Effects:
Flexeril may cause the following side effects: headache, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, heartburn, constipation, or stomach upset. If any of these symptoms are persistent or severe, it's recommended to contact a doctor. A doctor should also be contacted if the following occurs: skin rash, rapid heart rate, swelling of the face, difficulty urinating, or muscle stiffness. Diziness and or lightheadedness may occur when rising from a lying or sitting position. Individuals taking Flexeril are advised to change positions slowly and be careful when navigating stairs. Activities involving an individual to alert should be avoided if dizziness and or drowsiness are present. If any other side effects not listed above occur, a doctor should be notified.
How to Store:
Flexeril should be stored at 25 degrees celcius or 77 degrees farenheit. Excursions permitted to 15 to 30 degrees celcius or 59 to 86 degrees farenheit. The drug should be kept out of reach of children.
Overdose:
The below symptoms may indicate an overdose: extreme nervousness or restlessness, hallucinations, racing or irregular hearbeat, shortness of breath, extreme fatigue, unstable temperature, unusual muscle stifness, difficulty breathing, flushed skin, seizsures, and vomiting in combination with aforemementioned symptoms. If an overdose has occured, medical help should be obtained immediately.
Additional Information:
Flexeril may increase the effects of barbiturates, alcohol and other CNS depressants.
