What is Penlac?

Penlac is an antifungal topical treatment for the signs and symptoms of onychomycosis, or a fungal infection that affects both the toenails and fingernails.

How to Take Penlac

If there are any present nails that are loose or need to be removed, ensure that they are clipped or filed with nail clippers or a nail file before starting a treatment of Penlac. This medication is usually applied before bed and it should be applied to all infected nails. This topical treatment should be applied smoothly and across the entire nail. Ensure that the treatment dries before getting dressed or putting on any stockings or socks. Let at least eight hours pass before bathing or showering.

Warnings

This topical treatment should only be applied to infected nails and should not come in contact with the mouth or eyes.

Missed Dose

If a treatment of Penlac is missed, you can apply it as soon as you realize that you missed a dose.

Potential Side Effects

A skin rash is the most common side effect associated with the application of Penlac. If serious signs of irritation occur such as burning, swelling, redness, blistering or discharge, contact your physician.

Storage Information

Penlac should be stored in a location that is not easily accessed by children. For best results, Penlac should be stored at room temperature, preferably within a range of 15-30 degrees Celsius or 59-86 degrees Fahrenheit.

Overdose

It is extremely rare for a person to overdose on Penlac. If an overdose is suspected, you should seek emergency medical care immediately.

Additional Information

It is not recommended to apply nail polish or any other nail products on any nails that have been treated with Penlac. Since this medication is flammable, keep away from open flame or heat.
